after reading the posts here, regarding the restrictive seat VS tall riders, i thought i would pass along an option that worked out for me...(6'1")
problem: seat does not let the arse of a tall rider rest up against the passenger cushion, (to give more leg room) due to the high plastic ridge in the back of the seat...(at least this is the case on my 02 Savage)..ouchers on the tail bone!!..LOL:)
solution:
1) take the seat off the bike.
2) lay it cushion side down on the floor
3) pull out several staples just in the back where that high ridge is.
4) fold the black plastic seat cover up over that formed ridge so you don't burn it.
5) stick your knee on the white plastic part and mush the seat down as much as possible.
6) holding your body weight on the plastic part...grab a nice hot soldering iron and while applying pressure to the middle, heat up the back continually, working on one section at a time until you burn the crap out of it and make it weak...use a big screw driver (or whatever works) to help with needed pressure points on each side...now, after it gets a bit flimsy and not so ridged back there, use that hot iron and scrape off some of the bottom of the white plastic, so when you sit back there, it will have the room to collaps down somewhat.
7) if you gave it enough heat, and caused a few splits in the white plastic, you have now made the back part of the seat flexible, so that when you sit back there, your tail bone doesn't get hurt...and you have not damaged the sides of the seat form...it looks exactly the same as before, except that now, the ridge in the back collapses a bit when you sit back there...if you sit in the middle (like Suzuki thinks you must...LOL:) it feels just like it did before.
as a tall rider, i feel that i lucked out on this one...i was worried that i would destroy the conformity of the seat but that didn't happen..(not even a little), cause i didn't cut any plastic...it's all still there...just a bit weaker in the back now.
of course the air bladder i use helps with leg room quite a bit as well, cause it raises me up somewhat.
hope this helps someone...God bless..:)
